Climate Change Action

Sisters, Brothers and Comrades,

CUPW recognizes that the fundamental goals for the social justice movement and the environment movements are often one and the same. As such CUPW will seek to build solidarity between the Union and environmental groups.

The climate emergency is upon us. With the inevitable transition from fossil fuels to renewable technology, there needs to be a Just Transition to ensure workers are not left behind. 3 years ago, our government promised to create a Ministry for a Just Transition – and we have not seen any meaningful progress. On March 12th, civil society groups are gathering to send a clear message that the time is now. Let’s show our support for all workers by joining the action.

Postal workers have always been at the forefront of the fight and now is the time for action. We need to make sure no worker is left behind in the race to develop a Just Transition. Our Delivering Community Power campaign is directly connected to this: Canada Post’s unionized workers have a plan to fight climate change while delivering expanded services. Canada Post is perfectly positioned to lead the way to a sustainable future by greening its massive infrastructure, kickstarting our transition towards good, green jobs. The beauty? It pays for itself.

What can you do about it? How can you get involved?
