CUPW / CLC Winter School 2026 Call for Applications!

Our postings are out for the CLC Winter School, and we’re excited to announce that CUPW has secured two class spaces in conjunction with CLC’s Week 5:

February 8 – 13, 2026 Harrison Hot Springs Resort, 100 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, BC

This is a joint venture with the Prairie Region – which means each Region gets 10 spots per class (20 total participants in each).

Courses offered

 

CUPW: Social Stewards – Supporting Each Other Through Solidarity

This course equips members with the skills and confidence to become Social Stewards—trusted, compassionate peers who provide support to co-workers facing personal challenges.

Participants will learn:
• The role and responsibilities of a Social Steward
• Active listening and identifying member concerns
• Offering meaningful support and connecting members to resources
• Strategies to address workplace issues with empathy and confidence

Applicants must complete and attach the Social Steward Questionnaire for consideration.

CUPW: Turtle Island – Building Allyship and Understanding

This transformative course deepens understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and struggles, while fostering meaningful allyship and solidarity.

Participants will:
• Explore key moments in Indigenous history and their connections to present realities
• Challenge stereotypes and myths through reflection and discussion
• Build tools for long-term, respectful allyship and support for Indigenous-led movements

Important Information
Deadline for applications: 5:00 PM, November 28, 2025 (NO EXCEPTIONS) Any applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

• Application process:
o Must be signed by the Local President or another LEC member.
o Locals are responsible for submitting completed applications directly to the Regional Office by mail or fax.

• Costs covered: As per the PEL provisions of our Collective Agreement, all costs—including wages, transportation, and meals—are paid by the National Union.

• Attendance:
o Some evening sessions will be scheduled.
o All sessions are mandatory.
o Please note that class hours may not align with other courses being offered at Winter School.
